Join the MIT Online Makerspace Slack

3 MAKER COMMUNITIES in 1: METROPOLIS and THE DEEP (Project Manus), PROTOWORKSHOP (Martin Trust Center), and MIT Student Makers-at-Large. The MIT Online Makerspace is a Slack workspace in MIT's Slack organization. Anyone with an MIT user account can join. If you already have Slack installed and are using other MIT workspaces, just use the button below to open and join the MIT Online Makerspace workspace.

New to Slack? Troubleshooting Tips.


If you are new to MIT's Slack organization, sign up for Slack first, then use the above button or the Slack workspace directory to join MIT Online Makerspace.


  1. Go to mit.slack.com (But wait! ✋ Link will open in a new window so finish reading these instructions first or be ready to come back to this tab for next steps!)
  2. If you've not used MIT Slack before, you will see a Sign in to MIT page; sign in using the Sign in with MIT Touchstone button; this will sign you up for an MIT Slack account and sign you in
  3. After the sign in step you'll be asked to choose your first MIT Slack workspace; we recommend you pick MIT Enterprise, which is the main MIT Slack workspace that almost all MIT users take part in
  4. Lastly, come back to this page and click on the JOIN / OPEN MIT Online Makerspace in Slack button above; now that you're signed up it will let you join the workspace as expected 🎉
