Design is a process and mode of inquiry that underpins research and pedagogy across MIT. The Institute has a rich history of advancing design theory, research, teaching, and practice, with impact at MIT and around the world. Whether creating lab experiments, musical scores, medical devices, consumer products, computer codes, business models, or architectural plans, we believe every MIT student could be considered a designer.

MIT Morningside Academy for Design

The MIT Morningside Academy for Design (MIT MAD) is an interdisciplinary hub that celebrates the transformative power of design at MIT and beyond. MAD exists to foster innovation, empower individuals, and reshape the way we learn, while being the home of Project Manus and MITdesignX.
