This is an in-depth reset and re-calibration for a Prusa Mk3s or Mk3s+ 3D printer. Although we’re not sure why, we’ve seen it to help with stubborn adhesion and first-layer issues. It’s probably a good practice to do this on at least a semi-annual basis for printers that see a lot of novice use.
Optional: Regular Maintenance Checks
Check Idler Tension
Perform Cold Pull
Clean Hobbed Gears
Lubricate Smooth Rails
Perform Factory Reset
Turn off power switch
Hold down knob button while turning power back on
Clear all data
Follow prompts for calibration
Quantitative First-Layer Calibration
Optional: Calibrate Extrusion Multiplier
Only do this if the printer is expected to print the same filament consistently. This level of fine-tuning is quite filament-specific.
Optional: Check Belt Tension
Optional: Check trapezoidal nuts and Z-covers
Trapezoidal nuts and Z-covers are shown in this guide https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/4-z-axis-assembly_168629#168735
The Z-covers should be gently snug to the motor, and not impede rotation.
The trapezoidal nut fixing screws should be tight, but not to the point of distorting the nuts.
