Manus Makerspaces Working Alone List

Project Manus Mentors have the privilege of opening our shops, and while it’s always better to have shop buddy around, there are some tools that represent a minimal risk and hazard to life and limb, similar to what one might routinely have at home. These tools and processes are categorized below (in accordance with MIT EHS-0076), with indication whether they can be used by trained mentors working alone.

  • Arc welder (any)
  • Bandsaw

  • Disk sander
  • Belt sander
  • Angle Grinder
  • Air / propane (plumber’s) torch

Class 4

Buddy system required!

No late night use (2-6AM)!

  • Metal lathe
  • CNC router
  • Plasma cutter
